GAUTA PRIMARY SCHOOL, KEFFI, NASARAWA STATE

Gauta community is about 52Km from the Federal Capital Territory. Among Gauta’s greatest assets are its conglomerate of warm people from diverse origins that are infectiously enthusiastic about the education of their children. Its rich farming culture, religious beliefs, and culinary traditions will pleasantly surprise you. Gauta is a community that has retained its old soul amidst a recent wave of cosmopolitan glamour in neighbouring urban cities.

Gauta community has one (1) Government owned primary school with 667 pupils and 13 staff members with infrastructures that are in various stages of decay. With 100 pupils per classroom significantly exceeding the national standard of 40 that the UBEC had set in the Universal Basic Education Plan of 1999. They have 3 blocks of classroom to house the entire school population, resulting in a situation where students take classes in a cramped environment. With only 70 chairs available, as many desks and chairs are broken, students are forced to sit either directly on the floor or a chair designed for two students with more than two students.

OUR GOALS FOR GAUTA PRIMARY SCHOOL
We are using an innovative construction technique, RAMMED EARTH, to build 18 individual classrooms for Primaries 1-6, an Administrative block, WASH facilities and other ancillary facilities.
